internet problems

yo guy I've got a problem, whenever my sis downloads music from youtube our internet crashes and we'll have to reboot our router, she's using wwirelss. any idea how to fix this? it's pissing me off

they said there was nothing they could do about it

Is it only downloading from youtube that fucks up your internet?

(btw im going to be playing league in july im in a hotel atm, my lp are draining QQ)

Get a better ISP?

How about you try resetting your router to default settings? Look for a button in the back of the router/modem and press it for 40 seconds after that you will need to go on your computer and input all of your ISP information to get back to the internet. Make sure you have that information before trying to reset the router. If after doing all of that, your internet keeps having problems. You might want to keep bothering your ISP or get a new router.

Btw I'm pretty sure is your ISPs fault, they always tell you is not their fault when in fact it is. I have a similar problem but my internet doesn't crash like yours seems to do. I get random packet loss at times and that makes me lose connection for a couple of seconds other than that my internet works fine. Also what speed do you get? If you have more than 3mb a sec and you only use 2 computer in the house and your internet crashes like that, its your ISP fault or your router/modem.

If you want to make sure you aren't having any packet loss, you can test for packet loss by going into your computer and opening a command prompt. Type tracert www.google.com and see if you lose any packets. If you lose packets at hop 3 and up is your ISP that has problems with the network and you need to get in contact with a level 3 technician. If you lose packets at hop 1 or 2 is you who has problems. Hop 1 is your router/modem hop 2 is the connection to your ISP.

@ram: I get 25 Mbps (small b) so that should be fine, as a temporary fix we set up a LAN-cable to my sis' laptop and now the internet doesn't kick us off anymore. The command prompt didn't show me anything special either.

If command prompt didn't show anything you aren't losing any packets (that's good) and your line doesn't seem to have any problems. In that case it was your sister comp streaming from Youtube and her comp was hogging all of the internet for its self. Also you might want to increase your WiFi power level up a notch. Usually a modem reboots it self when there is too much traffic and it cant keep up.

Oh btw power level is not the same as WiFi channel. Also not all router have power level settings.

Also you know whats funny, you have 25mb and I have 3mb and Youtube loads slow for me..... I know people with 50/50 internet speed and its slow for them too.... wtf.

Yeah Youtube is stupid as fuck at times. It's become ridiculous.

Youtube also loads slow to me. When my sister downloads from youtube she gets kicked off the internet too, which is weird because I also thought she was just taking up all the speed =\ ohwell back to calling the isp i guess

Another funny thing is that, when I watch youtube on my phone everything loads fast but when I do it on my comp it just goes to shit.
