Adblock

Rene was telling me about an adblocker last week when we were watching OP. I used to use noscript but that was disabling the functionality of some vital processes on occasion. I'm not sure if this was the exact one Rene was talking about but I believe it is.

On Firefox go to

tools / add ons /

In the corner where it says search all add ons type "Adblock Plus" install 2.0.3 and the 0.3 popup add on under it. Then it should prompt you for filter preferences. Set the default one it gives you. And then you should get all the Fanboy preferences from this site.

click and add each ad block list to firefox.

This will get rid of tons of adds on the internet without having to straight disable scripts and miss important stuff that could give you issues on your browser. Also helps for getting rid of ads while you're watching anime or other shows online. Should get rid of Hulu ads and etc as well. Not to mention block dangerous ads that contain viruses. It even pwned ads on Fb and 4chan.

Works with tons of sites. The problem with Hulu is that they made it so if it can't play the ad you'll still have to wait like 1.5 minutes so...no solution to the Hulu ads.

Aww that's lame. The dude showed a video with it working on Hulu. Guess it was from a long time ago or something.

Yeah I've been using it for quite a while now. It really blocks every add there is (when using firefox). The google chrome version isn't able to block all video-ads though >.<

I don't really understand how to use it. Is it enough just to install?

Doesn't work

I've been using it on Chrome for a long time now and on YouTube it works perfectly. On other sites, it now shows cats instead of random advert banners, pretty cool haha. The video ad-blocking doesn't work for the Dutch site "Dumpert" though. But that's all I've noticed.

Yes.

Spor you don't have to grab the ad block list from a website. Just Control + Shift + F a new tab should appear. Click on add subscription and pick it from the list available. There is lots of list to choose from. The recommend one is the easy list for everyone in the US or the fanboy list. For the Dutch pick the Netherlands list.

Adblockplus should block 99% of all the adds in the internet.

@ Rene. i added both. And I looked at the definition for all of them. Fanboy was best definition wise based on what it blocked. Fanboy blocked more script based blocking shit like "ad_frame" and "ad_width" instead of just widely known ad sites based on the wild cards. The wild cards on take you so far.
