You are correct, you need 1m gen points for it.
Now let me tell you what I read yesterday from a guy that did the math to see what it would take to get 1m gen points. If you do 4 cavern quests a day( and that is about max per day) and you got max points per quest, it would take 368 days to get 1m gen points. Not really worth it, me and Drawnzor went there because he has never been there. It was fun.
