Pokemon The Origin

"One of the long-running aspects of Pokemon fandom (in English, at least) has been what to call your starting character. Many choose a custom name, but others choose the "default" names of "Red" or "Ash". And one sore point in the minor nerd holy wars has always been that the star of the Pokemon anime (and more or less the public face of Pokemon Trainers) has pretty much been Ash Ketchum.  Well, Red-fans. Your time is NOW. For come October, you can feast your eyes on Pokemon The Origin, a one-shot anime special recalling the very first Pokemon game, featuring a lead named "Red" and his rival "Blue". And look, there's no Pikachu in sight! Red's got a Charmander, from the looks of things. Also seen is a fight with a Geodude, a Blastoise, and more.  While I'm not particularly a fan of Pokemon, I can appreciate a little bit of nostalgia-driven fanservice like this, particularly for fans who've connected more with the game than the "official" Ash-based anime.  What do you think? Are you hoping this'll become more than a one-off production?"

I actually don't like Pokemon, but I remember playing the games and they were actually fun to play. Because of that I'm going to watch the special episode. Plus anything that doesn't have 10 year old ash is good to me. IMO the anime should have been better if they actually grew him as the anime progressed but its been over 10 years already and its like he never got a day older.... heck he looks even younger now its like he went back in time.....

People were crying about this on animeultima aswell. C'mon it's a kids anime. Do you think they care about the MC getting older? If it was an anime aimed at more mature people they should have done it, but it's not a big deal if it's for kids.

Pokemon's mistake was that they should have stopped after the first series. Maybe make some movies once in a while but no new series. The first 150 pokemon were awesome and the story was quite good and entertaining, for kids. Now it's only the same over and over again in a different region. And none of the people Ash travelled with could be as cool as Brock and Misty. But again, it was aimed at kids and it's only natural if you grow out of it eventually.

It's now with Red from one of the first games. People posted awesome pictures of him on AU but in the anime he actually looks kiddy. That sucks.

 I remember him from the red version of the game he was one of the members of the elite 4. In the silver version he's the champion if I remember correctly. I could be wrong, I played the games like 16 years ago.
